  • This was transmitted to Rohan by the beacons. (Shut up! It was!)

  • Have you been getting enough rest, c_b?

    June 6, 2009

  • "And Rohan will answer!"

    June 6, 2009

  • A form of communication well worth reviving.

    June 6, 2009

  • All that is required is a grid of beacons (say) 75km apart across the entire surface of the earth (including that part covered by water, for which buoys could be employed). If, say, Turkey were to require aid from Australia, beacons would be lit according to the most direct route from Ankara to Canberra. It would only be marginally slower than satellite communications, and immeasurably more dramatic.

  • Holy flapjacks, yarb -- that's brilliant! I think we should immediately begin building beacons. Also, I think the beacon-builders should be given bacon, so that they may breakfast beside their beacons.

Also, you've just given me an idea for a new list. :-)

  • *sigh*

    *loves her Wordie buddies*

  • I believe rt is working on an ark. Perhaps he could float about the seas, replenishing the bacon supplies of hungry beacon-builders...

    June 6, 2009

  • The ark's been warehoused for the moment--it stopped raining here.

But for a worldwide beacon network built by beacon-builders who breakfast on bacon, I could certainly take it back out of storage.

    June 7, 2009

  • Well, who wouldn't?

    June 8, 2009

  • I don't know how the porcine members of the ark's crew would take the bacon delivery, mind you.
